Door de speciale samenstelling van koolstof-vanadium is deze legering bijzonder geschikt voor oppervlakkig vlamharden, met afkoeling in water. Na het lassen bedraagt de hardheid 58 tot 60 Rc, en deze kan door thermische behandeling worden verhoogd of verlaagd.
