De uitgebalanceerde samenstelling van de neersmelt voorkomt aantasting door het vloeibare zink en het optreden van het Sandelin-effect. Dit maakt Lastek 17 bijzonder geschikt voor het bijwerken van slijtage in verzinkingsbaden van Armco-ijzer.
